Herons Dyke Studio has been providing art classes for children and adults since 1992. It is a fully equipped art and ceramic studio, converted from farm buildings, which form part of an attractive courtyard in a delightful rural setting in Lympsham on the beautiful Somerset levels.
Student numbers are kept small, ensuring individual tuition and a very friendly atmosphere. Each student has their own workbase, with access to an art library and ceramic kiln. Students are encouraged to work in an individual way, exploring a variety of media, for example, watercolour, acrylics, pastels, inks, dyes, collage, clay, working in either two or three dimensions.
All art and pottery courses are run by Liz Rayner who is a qualified graduate teacher of art, design and ceramics. She has many years experience of teaching art at adult education centres and her own studio. She has also taught an age range of 7-18, including GCSE and A level, and has been in charge of the art department in four schools. Her own work has been featured in Somerset Art Week, and covers paintings, design work, ceramics and craftwork.
